Brown Paper Packages! (a.k.a. Race Kits!)

by Shelley Jo Rojas Saracin on October 1, 2010

One of the exciting things about ordering race kits online is the actual “wait.” Yes, I know we runners would like to have our race kits with us as soon as we register, but sometimes, the wait can actually be exciting.

Take for example, my Adidas 21k Race Kit.

On the first day of registration, I was out of the office promptly at 4pm and went directly to the mall. To my dismay, both Glorietta and Greenbelt (and, according to another runner friend, Shangri-la) were already out of race kits. It was a Friday.

Not being able to register for the Adidas race that Friday meant that I would have to adjust my Saturday morning plans. Training run, then breakfast, then off to Makati to beat the other race kit registrants. Hassle. Especially when you just want to laze around on a Saturday morning.

Then I remembered that I was a Runners’ Runner member! Could they possibly STILL have 21k race kits and my exact singlet size still? I cross my fingers and go online as soon as I get home. With a few clicks, I’m registered, with no hassles on filling out forms since the site already has my info from past races. I’m slightly nervous, though, that they might not be able to give me my exact singlet size. Or they might even run out of race kits too.

they got my exact size! Yehey!

Well, the rest is history, so they say. My race kits (Adidas KOTR and the Pink Run, which has a nice pink singlet by Accel) just arrived today, and I’m acting like a little girl who has just had a taste of candy.

I squeal in delight. I open my race kits one at a time, touching the singlets, looking at my race bibs, smiling at my new copy of The Bull Runner (with a very handsome runner on the cover). Ruffling through the discount coupons.

Guess who the poster boy is? =)

Receiving your race kits (on time) and with the correct sizes and specifications is like opening a gift on Christmas. ^_^ It spells HAPPINESS.

Now to keep training for those runs.

Hi Andrew,

Thanks for your note. Noted your order and payment of three different runs (Anson’s, Greenovation, Animo). These will be delivered when race kits are available.

For Anson’s, rest assured you will receive the kit this week.

Thanks for your patronage and patience ;-) .
